Meet Tumble 2018

Please read before purchasing:
Due to the natural qualities of Tumble’s fleece, this Woolly Dot may shed loose fibres over time. This is a characteristic of this particular breed and part of its beautifully raw and organic nature. Because of this, it is best suited as a display piece rather than for regular use.

Tumble is a friendly Herdwick sheep, born locally, with a truly characterful and distinctive fleece. Herdwick wool is known for its unique texture, natural variation, and a tendency to moult. This gives it a wonderfully wild and organic appearance, but also means it is more delicate than some other fleeces.

This year, I was able to create this special Woolly Dot, along with one small Living Rug, from Tumble’s fleece. Each piece reflects his individual character and the natural qualities of his wool.

As with all my work, this piece has been handmade using my felted fleece technique, allowing the fleece to retain its depth, movement, and individuality. Its shape is organic rather than perfectly round, adding to its unique character.

Woolly Dots are created using parts of the fleece that may not become a full Living Rug, ensuring every fleece is used and appreciated for its own unique qualities. Only a small number can be made from each fleece, making each piece part of a limited and ever-changing collection.
