 What Makes a A Living Rug® Different?  A Living Rug® isn't simply a rug made from sheep's fleece. It comes from a very particular way of caring for animals and a very special relationship with my flock.

My sheep are a home-for-life flock. They are not raised for meat and they are not part of the food chain. They are valued as individuals and remain here on our farm throughout their lives.

I don't keep animals for human consumption. My farm is simply home to the animals I love and care for — my sheep, horses, chickens and cats... and, of course, the husband!

This is an important part of what Living Rug® means to me.

I know that many people who choose a Living Rug® care deeply about where the materials in their home come from. I believe it's important to be completely open about the animals behind my rugs and the way they are kept.

The fleece used to make a Living Rug® is a by-product of caring for my flock — not the reason an animal was raised.

My sheep are here because I love them. Their fleece is something they naturally grow and, once they have been shorn as part of their normal care, I can give that fleece another life by turning it into something beautiful and useful.

The sheep comes first. The rug comes from the sheep — it is not the reason for the sheep.
