Flo – A One-of-a-Kind Herdwick Living Rug

Meet Flo, a seven-year-old Herdwick sheep with plenty of character. Flo isn’t particularly interested in people and is perfectly happy doing her own thing with her sheep friends!

This unique rug has been made from the best parts of Flo’s fleece, carefully selected for its beautiful natural colouring, texture and character. As a genuine Herdwick fleece, it has the wonderfully rustic qualities for which this hardy Lake District breed is so well known.

Herdwick wool is naturally quite coarse and robust, rather than soft and fine like some other fleeces. It has a lovely wild, slightly tousled texture, with longer fibres and natural variations throughout the fleece. This gives the rug a wonderfully authentic, rustic appearance and makes every Herdwick rug completely individual.

The colouring of Herdwick wool is naturally beautiful, with shades of soft cream, warm ivory, silver and subtle grey creating depth and variation throughout Flo’s fleece. No two fleeces are ever quite the same, and this rug is entirely unique to Flo.

A note about the natural fleece

As this is a genuine, natural Herdwick fleece, it is important to understand that the wool can naturally moult. If the fleece is pulled or tugged, individual fibres or small tufts may come away in your hand. This is a natural characteristic of the fleece and is not a fault with the rug.

We have retained as much of the fleece’s natural character as possible rather than over-processing it, allowing you to appreciate the distinctive texture and appearance of genuine Herdwick wool.

This is much more than simply a sheepskin rug — it is Flo’s fleece, carefully selected from the finest parts of her fleece and transformed into a completely one-of-a-kind piece.

Perfect for a country home, farmhouse, rustic interior or anywhere that appreciates natural materials and the beauty of something truly individual.
