Ida's 2026 Living Rug®

Handcrafted from the fleece of Ida, our beautiful 11-year-old Icelandic sheep, this one-of-a-kind Living Rug® celebrates the strength and character of one of the most reliable members of our flock.

Ida is an incredibly hardy sheep who has always been a pleasure to care for. Over the years she has rarely needed any attention, has never suffered from health problems, and quietly gets on with life, making her a much-loved member of the flock.

This year's fleece has slightly shorter staples than she usually produces, but it has created a wonderfully dense, substantial rug with excellent weight, making it particularly well suited for use on the floor.

Ida's fleece has been carefully washed several times, but, as is often the case with Icelandic wool, it still retains some of its natural lanolin. You may notice this as a slight waxy or greasy feel in places. This is a natural characteristic of the fleece and reflects the wool's natural qualities.

Ida's fleece has a more rustic feel rather than being especially soft. Like all naturally felted wool, if the fibres are pulled with force they may separate, but under normal use as a floor rug the fibres remain securely felted together, allowing you to enjoy the rug for many years.
