Herdwick & Mule Wool Yarn

This beautifully rustic yarn has been spun from the fleeces of our own Herdwick and Mule sheep here at The Living Rug Company.

The wool comes from fleeces that were unsuitable for making our felted Living Rugs®, ensuring that every fleece from our flock has a purpose. Rather than letting these wonderful natural fibres go to waste, they are carefully processed into this characterful British yarn.

The addition of Mule wool creates a yarn that is a little softer than pure Herdwick, while still retaining the strength, durability and distinctive character that Herdwick fleece is known for. It has a wonderfully natural handle with subtle variations that reflect the sheep and the landscape they live in.

This yarn is ideal for knitters, crocheters and weavers who appreciate authentic British wool and enjoy creating projects with a story behind them. It is particularly suited to items where durability and rustic texture are desired, such as cushions, bags, throws, home accessories and traditional knitwear.

Every ball is unique and represents a small part of our flock, making it a truly special fibre to work with.
