This is a beautiful felted rug made from Flo, who is a Herdwick Sheep. Herdwick sheep originally live on the slopes and pastures of England's highest mountains. To withstand the elements, they have wiry, thick, warm wool that keeps them cosy. Due to this fact, sometimes these fleeces can moult when felted, and it does vary from sheep to sheep. This is because the sheep actually have two coats - one is like a woolly jumper, and then there's an outer coat that is hairy. It's this part of the fleece that has a tendency to moult.
Flo, the felted living rug, does moult, so it would be more suitable for decoration purposes. This rug would be great for the floor, especially in areas with low footfall. Additionally, these types of rugs always look fantastic in a boot room on a bench. Definitely a rug for any Herdy fan!
Flo came to live at the farm in 2019 and has been no trouble to look after, apart from the fact that she's a bit of an escape artist, always on the lookout for greener grass.
Full cleaning instructions are provided, and there is also a picture of Flo included.
