Living Rug Care Instructions...

Before felting, I dedicate a significant amount of time to meticulously removing bits of hay and straw from each fleece. However, please be aware that some small 'bits,' like straw or other debris, may still remain. After all, this is a product of a living sheep and is entirely handmade.

Due to the handcrafted and natural nature of these rugs, the Living Rug behaves differently from a traditional sheepskin rug. Each fleece possesses unique characteristics in terms of texture, sheen, lock length, and density. Some fleeces may shed more than others. If you need to clean your rug, you have two options: hand-washing or machine-washing. Before starting either method, take your rug outside and give it a vigorous shake to remove any dust or dirt. I recommend incorporating this into your weekly routine and spraying your rug with moth repellent if your home is prone to moth infestations (see details below). Avoid using a vacuum cleaner on these rugs.
